Reiki Healing Needed

Reiki healing practiceI often ask Reiki practitioners if they practice daily hands-on Reiki self-treatment.

This seems to be a simple yes-or-no question, but I’ve found “No” comes in many shapes and sizes.

My favorite is: “I practice Reiki when I need it.”

That always sets me wondering: when don’t we need Reiki healing?

When are we not in need of balance and support?

Doesn’t practicing Reiki when we need it mean practicing all the time? While that might be an ideal to strive for, it’s out of range for most people.

Reiki practice brings ease

Practicing hands-on Reiki self-treatment every day is so much easier than practicing when we need it (which is always).

When we commit to daily Reiki self-practice, an interesting thing happens: we bring ease into the details of our lives in ways we could not have anticipated.

Commit to hands-on practice just once each day, and that practice will support you throughout your day.

Why not make your life easier? Practice hands-on Reiki self-treatment every day. Without fail.

  1. Daily self-treatment has led me to a few discoveries: About 2 weeks ago I noticed that my hands were heavy at the crown and navel areas. I was actually pressing those areas, as if trying to make something happen. When I became aware of this, I started to monitor my hands on myself. During a recent Reiki treatment I was led to ask myself this question: In what ways do I add unnecessary weight and pressure to my life? Answer: (1) When going out to grocery shop, stopping at 2 or 3 places, I would often return with 4 to 6 bags, often filled with cans of cat food and litter – heavy. I purchased a mini-shopping cart and now I don’t leave home without it. (2) I have stopped over-scheduling myself, making sure that I have nothing to do when I leave my job at 730 in the morning except to go home and take care of myself – no pressure to keep appointments on those days. Small but huge shifts and gifts from self-treatment – finding kinder and gentler ways of being with myself.

  2. Daily self-treatment helps me on all levels. I feel better physically – less aches & pains, more energy. I feel better emotionally – peaceful & relaxed. I feel better mentally – calm & unworried, more detatched from the stresses of life. And last of all, spiritually, I feel a deep trust in life & a sense of connection to others. Daily self-treatment keeps me in a good place. There have been occasions when, due to circumstances, I have been unable to practice as much as I would like, & I can feel the difference. I see it as a gift that I give to myself.

  3. When I did my first reiki 1 course I immediately began to give reiki treatments to other people. Back then, practicing on myself I found hard; I didn’t feel that much at that point. I followed a Reiki 2 course. And it took my some more months untill I decided I wanted my own practice and wanted to treat myself. I began to meditate ( with a tape recorder) and practice reiki on myself afterwards. That made it easier for me. Since then I practise Reiki on myself every day, for more than 10 years now. I experienced more personal growth by practising Reiki self treatments, then by taking another Reiki course. So daily reiki treatments is what I recommend.

    1. I completely agree, Nicola. We learn about Reiki practice primarily by practicing daily Reiki self-treatment, not by taking courses. I would rather receive treatment from a First degree Reiki practitioner who practices daily self-treatment than from someone who considers herself to be a Reiki master but does not have a consistent daily self-practice.

  4. Every day, every day, daily. It does truly make such a difference to my life. I find it so hard to believe that it took me 12 1/2 years with Reiki before I came to this brilliant piece of life changing practice.
As I have said repeatedly, thank you Pamela for your guidance and book. You state so strongly and unequivocally that daily self-practice is fundamental and vital. Even I could not miss or gloss over the message. And more to the point put it into practice.
No disrespect to my Reiki Master, I know it was part of the teaching and after reviewing the notes it is in there too. I just didn’t get it at the time.

    1. Judy, I commend you for taking up your daily self-practice, and thank you for your kind words.

I am really a nag with my students about daily self-practice. We practice many times in class and I bet I repeat it at least once an hour. I know that the students are caught up in their own inner experience and that is a good thing. And that makes it necessary to repeat the important points over and over again. 🙂
