FAQs
What’s the difference between a remote and in-person session?
Reiki practice is equally effective in both formats—the only difference is how we connect.
- In-person sessions include hands-on treatment while you rest fully clothed on the treatment table. I place hands gently on your head and torso. We’ll sit and talk for a few minutes after I finish practicing on you, to check in how you’re feeling and guide you signs of healing you might notice afterward.
Remote sessions take place while you’re relaxing at home. We’ll connect briefly by phone. I start practicing distant Reiki for you just before our call and continue throughout, and after we hang up. Advantages of remote sessions is that you don’t have to travel and there’s no set end time; you can be in bed and rest for as long as you want.
Will you travel to me?
In-person sessions are typically hosted at Pamela’s location.
If you’re in NYC and it’s necessary—such as if you’re in the hospital or hospice—yes of course.
How should I prepare for a session?
Dress comfortably as you’ll be lying down.
You’ll be more comfortable if you forgo an espresso or a heavy meal just before our session. 😊
For remote sessions: Choose a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed, and allow some time afterward to rest or reflect.
How will I feel afterwards?
Some people feel energized right away; others feel called to rest. There’s no “right” response—just listen to what your body needs, and give yourself space to follow it.
Will Reiki interfere with my medical treatment?
Not at all, and the NIH confirms that Reiki has not been shown to have any harmful effects.
Reiki practice doesn’t impose on your system in any way; it works with your body, gently reminding your system how to return to its natural state of balance. This makes it easier to tolerate medical treatments, stay optimistic, and heal more effectively.
