My client emailed, clearly fried and in pain, hoping for a last minute opening.
Once on the table, her deep sigh launched a litany of stresses. It was not time to suggest silence.
Reaching for resolution, she said, “I know everything is all right. Everything is going to be all right.”
I let her words hang in the air a few moments.
Now, or later?
“Which is it?” I asked.
Her expression turned quizzical.
“You just made two very different statements,” I said. “Is everything all right, or is everything going to be all right?”
She laughed and confirmed, “Everything is all right.”
Just for today
When you’re truly present in the moment — Today only — you know everything is all right. You can feel it. The rightness of each moment is palpable, there for you to experience when you give the present moment your full attention.
“Everything is all right” centers you.
“Everything is going to be all right” projects you out of the present into an unattainable future fantasy, leaving you powerless, joyless, lost and vulnerable.
What to do starts with just for today
Everything-is-all-right doesn’t mean it’s spiritual to be passive. Not at all. There are times that require an active response.
How can you know whether to be still or take action?
Start with the stillness of your practice. Once you connect with:
Everything is all right,
You’re better able to recognize if action is required, and to take action with skill and compassion.
Being present relocates you from a fantasy-fixing-land into a place of powerful, joyful creativity.

ALL IS WELL !!!
One thing i’ve found that there is alot of things stopping us from really connecting in the present, such as the emotions being triggered and even experiences from our past that are still effectings us. And as i’ve let go of these, I am able to feel better in the present.
We have all had those times we have been totally in the moment, really experiencing. Sometimes it’s awesome to just go out into the world, observe and enjoy it.
In fact when i’m done with what i’m doing on my computer, I am going outside myself to enjoy it. 🙂
When I say the words, “everything is all right,” I feel an immediate reduction in anxiety–anxiety I didn’t even realize I was feeling, but immediately recognize as being connected to countless little worries that dog me from day to day. Saying “everything is all right” for me is a way of summarizing the wisdom of Jesus, when he said, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Thanks for the great blog.
Thank you Pamela,
This message resonate in my whole being as I face flashes of anxiety… upcoming surgery.
Reiki Practice is allowing me to stay calm, at peace and knowing that
Yes “everything is all right” now, in the eternal present moment.
Thank you both for expressing the value of that profound inner knowing that comes with practice and that lies beyond knowing the outer details.
I love this line, Susan: “From being afraid of the journey, I have grown to love the challenges…”
I am currently in the midst of a life changing move to a small country town. It means closing down my natural therapies clinic which I have been working from for the past six years. It also means leaving behind a group of Reiki students who have been meeting in my home for the past six years for practice nights & many dear friends. Despite the enormity of this change, I feel a deep peace & knowing that it is the right thing to do. Daily Reiki practice has given me a deeper connection to something within that knows what is right & true. It’s hard to put into words, but I know that this peace is a direct result of daily Reiki self treatments & living the Precepts. From being afraid of the journey, I have grown to love the challenges, the adventures & the love that awaits me around every corner. Everything is definitely alright.
Many times I feel that something (I don’t know what it is) is NOT right. But I can change that, relax the feeling, with self reiki. I don’t know why, I just accept it.
Pamela, thank you for this post.
My daily Reiki self-treatment is the constant in my life. It helps me to stay present and still when all other aspects of my life are undergoing change. It helps me to see that everything IS all right, without having to understand the process.
